Thomas J. Colven, III

Mr. Colven was born in Augusta, Georgia.  He received his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University in 1976.  He graduated with a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1979.  Tom practiced with Graham, Bright & Smith, P.C. from November, 1979, until the creation of his own law firm in May, 1996. Tom concentrates his practice in real estate development and financing transactions. He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association (Real Estate Section), as well as the State Bar of Texas.

Cuong Tran

Managing Partner
Mr. Tran joined the firm on August 1, 2000. He was born in Binh Hoa, Vietnam.  He received his B.S. degree magna cum laude from Southwest Texas State University in 1997, where he was a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society. He graduated with a J.D. degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2000. Cuong’s practice concentrates on commercial lending transactions with an emphasis on SBA loan transactions. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas and American Bar Associations.

Matthew C. Meredith

Mr. Meredith joined the firm on September 13, 2004.  He was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He received his B.A. degree cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 2000, where he was a member of The Golden Key Honor Society and the Chancellor’s Leadership Class. He graduated with a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 2004. Matt’s practice concentrates on commercial lending transactions with an emphasis on SBA loan transactions. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.

Kerry M. Southerland

Partner
Ms. Southerland joined the firm on April 1, 2025, and is from a small town in southeast Arkansas. She received her B.A. degrees summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2003 where she also became a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She graduated cum laude with a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University in 2006. After a summer clerkship with Hon. Barbara J. Houser (Ret.), former chief bankruptcy judge of the Northern District of Texas, Kerry’s original practice concentrated on creditor’s rights and bankruptcy. Thereafter, her focus shifted to commercial lending including, but not limited to, SBA loan transactions, around 2016. She has been an active board member of the North Texas Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NTAGGL) and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Tiffany A. Tran

Associate
Ms. Tran joined the firm on September 1, 2024. She was born in Houston, Texas. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020. She graduated with a J.D. degree from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2024. Her practice concentrates on commercial lending transactions with an emphasis on SBA loan transactions. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, and the Texas Aggie Bar Association.
